Michael was launching a new consultancy in the wine industry and needed a brand that reflected his bold, strategic approach.

 

What began as a request for a logo quickly turned into a full naming and identity project. Together, we created Vinnacle—a fresh name and visual identity that breaks free from wine industry clichés and positions Mike as a confident, creative leader in his field

The approach.

Initially, Michael imagined a warm, earthy brand—something grounded and safe. But through three distinct stylescape directions, he quickly realised that the expected colour palettes and corporate aesthetics were already oversaturated in the industry.

Instead, we pivoted boldly: a contemporary, boundary-pushing aesthetic that embraced confidence and stood out from the crowd. It was a surprise—even to Michael—but one that immediately felt right.

As part of the process, we also uncovered that the original name, NZ Wine Solutions, didn’t capture the vision or value of what Michael was offering. After some deep diving into language and positioning, I proposed Vinnacle—a blend of vin(wine) and pinnacle (the highest point of success). He loved it straight away, saying, “I’ve been thinking about this for months—I can’t believe you landed on it so quickly!”
